My oldest son (5 years old, big brother) lately has been using negative words and actions against my middle child (3 years old, middle brother). He says he doesn’t like to play with him, he isn’t very nice to him (especially in front of other people).
My child falls a lot. Are they just clumsy or can it be something else?
How do we know what our parenting choices are in difficult situations with my neuro-divergent child?
What is the best way to talk to my children about school shootings?
Since this is a hot topic, can you direct us on the best way to talk to our kids about school shootings? I have a 3rd grader and I know this will be a hot topic at school tomorrow, and I want to know how to address it appropriately for an anxious 9-year-old. I’m sure other parents in this group can also benefit from your words.
How can I get my little one back on a sleep schedule after changing it?
What would be considered appropriate chores for a 2yo and a 4.5yo and should they be attached to allowances?
Is it time to transition my almost 2yo from crib to bed? How should I do it?
My son tried to climb out of his crib last night, had a nightmare that woke him and would not go back down. I ended up sleeping on the floor bed that's already set up in his room with him.
I would like to move him to the floor bed as I really am worried about him being hurt in the crib. He turned two at the end of August.
My son tested gifted but now he's bored and possibly failing a grade. What schools should we look into?
What questions should I be asking when choosing a school that is right for my daughter?
How can I help my almost 4yo daughter overcome her fears?
What should I look for in a summer camp for my 5yo?
My 27 month old absolutely refuses to go to bed. Please help!
How to approach a teacher that's not very flexible and may be unhealthy for my child?
We wanted some guidance about school and the best way to handle this. One of my daughter’s teachers is super organized, communicates in advance about deadlines or events; prefers kids to finish their work/projects in school and sends very little homework (hw is actually whatever the student could not finish in class), which is greatly appreciated.
On the other hand, from the interactions I had with her, reports from my daughter and from other moms (who hear from their kids) this teacher seems to have a very traditional approach with the kids. She doesn’t allow her students to “talk back”, meaning, when they try to explain or clarify a situation, i.e, tell their side of the story, teacher replies with, “no buts or you’ll get a conduct cut for talking back” or shames them in front of the class.
My 6yo with ADHD is struggling with homework! How can I help him?
Moving to a different country with my 4.5yo and 5.5yo.
My 2yo son insists on only wearing ONE pair of shoes.
My toddler son is doing an excellent job of being two years old but we are at an impasse with shoes. His favorite pair he outgrew and they no longer make them. We talked about it and said bye bye to his shoes and talked about new ones. He refuses to wear anything but one pair he has; they really aren’t play shoes. When those are wet we are screwed. I have ordered three pairs for him to try and are similar to his old ones but again he refuses. What to do?
My 4.5yo still has potty accidents. How do I help her?
My daughter got back to school on Wednesday and had two potty accidents (#1 and #2) on day 1 and another #1 on day 2.
Yesterday we got a call from the school director asking us what we are doing at home to help prepare her for the 'big girls' school in September, when she will no longer be in a pre-school environment and they will have a smaller ratio of teachers (2 for 16 instead of currently 5 for 25). This was the second call, we had one in December.
My son has been having tics for almost 2 years now and they have not gone away since they started. Help!
My son has been having tics for almost 2 years now and they have not gone away since they started, he just has some days better and some days worse.
Will they eventually go away as he outgrows them or they might stay?
Do we need to be worried at some point and do more than what we are doing now to calm his nervous system? Thank you!!
What is a healthy school schedule for my little one?
I don't agree with my child's coach and their ways of coaching. Help!
Our son (almost eight years old) plays soccer with a team on the weekends. His coach yells at the kids. I noticed before, but I decided to keep an eye on it, but this weekend my son was not running, and he shouted: "If you don't run, you'll go to the bench." He sent him to the bench and started imitating my son. My son entered the game again, but at the end of the game, I noticed he was sad, and I tried to speak about the topic, but he avoided it until I told him: I noticed that the coach yelled at you because you were not running. How do you feel? And he said: very angry.
