Question
My son has been having tics for almost 2 years now and they have not gone away since they started, he just has some days better and some days worse.
Will they eventually go away as he outgrows them or they might stay?
Do we need to be worried at some point and do more than what we are doing now to calm his nervous system? Thank you!!
Answer
It is always good practice to rule out the medical or better said the possible structural reasons for tiks or any other physical symptoms that accompany anxious responses.
I'm not one to wait primarily because FACTS take care of FEAR.
If you have the means, then seeing a pediatric neurologist and a pediatric urologist around the urination issues is a good idea. I would much rather have a doctor laugh you out of their office than wait to get a medical evaluation and something is off with the body.
Continuing to do the work of keeping his anxious responses down AND rule out the medical would be my recommendation.
